Credit card companies design premium credit cards with temptation in mind, but you can work with the credit card companies while still gaining benefits. If you can restrict your spending to only what you normally would spend, you can easily build up thousands of reward points every year. Credit card companies offer reward points in order to entice users to shop more, but you can gain the benefits of reward points just by using your credit card to pay for regular expenses. In order to take advantage of any bonus partners offering extra points, you can shop for birthday presents and the like at those stores. In such situations you are likely to spend only as much as you have planned anyway, so you may be able to gain more reward points without spending more than you normally would on a planned purchase.
